Canada Impact+ PhD Candidates

 

The Cyber Science Lab (Guelph, Ontario, Canada) is seeking expressions of interest from Canada Impact+ PhD candidates for upcoming nomination cycles.

Eligibility (mandatory)

  • No current affiliation with a Canadian institution.
  • Must be currently studying or working outside Canada at the time of nomination.
  • Must have completed a first-class MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Machine Learning, or a closely related field, with a minimum CGPA of 17+/20 or 80+/100.
  • Must meet English proficiency requirements (University of Guelph):

Research excellence (mandatory)

  • Demonstrated first-author (lead author) publication record, with at least two published papers in peer-reviewed journals or conferences.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with an active GitHub profile or relevant repositories to support validation of coding quality.

Timeline

  • Application deadline: January 5, 2026
  • Expected start date: September 2026 (subject to funding availability and nomination timelines)

Hiring / Nomination Process

  • 30-minute introductory interview (shortlisted candidates).
  • Institutional nomination (when nomination cycles are available).
  • Candidates who successfully pass the institutional nomination stage will be invited to proceed to the full application stage.
