Cybersecurity without Borders Fellowship

At Cyber Science Lab, we believe in research without borders. Science and innovation thrive when diverse minds collaborate, regardless of geography, sex, gender, beliefs, or background. Our Global Research Fellows are researchers from around the world who work with us remotely on cutting-edge projects, contributing their expertise while fostering a truly open and inclusive research ecosystem.

We welcome scholars from academia, industry, and independent researchers to join us in advancing knowledge and solving complex challenges together.

Terms of Collaboration
Global Research Fellow appointments are voluntary, unpaid, and fully remote. These positions do not constitute employment or financial compensation.

Minimum Requirements

To join our Global Research Fellows program, you need solid research experience. We typically accept researchers with a few published papers and hands-on research experience. Most of our Fellows are either PhD students in their second or third year or recent PhD graduates looking to expand their research portfolio and publications.

Hiring Process

    • Step 1: A 30-minute introductory interview with Dr. Dehghantanha, where you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your compatibility with the lab’s research focus, culture, and core values.

    • Step 2: For 2-3month, you work with one of the fellow advisors in the lab on a remote project towards preparing your very first paper. These projects are normally very hands-on and to make sure the suitability of fellow to our program.

    • Step 3: You will officially join our team, will be named on the website as a fellow, recieve a CSL email address, and work closely with our researchers on our ongoing projects. Fellows are normally publishing 2-3 papers every year with the CSL team.

Benefits of Becoming a Fellow

While our Fellow appointments are voluntary, unpaid, and fully remote, there are many benefits of becoming a fellow:

    • Closely working with top researchers in CSL and publish quality papers
    • Having priority joining CSL as a PhD or Postdoc researcher (all open PhD and Postdoc positions are first offered to the fellows before being advertised publicly)
    • CSL will support you to apply for many presigious research programs in Canada including Global Affairs Canada Student Exchange Program Scholarships, Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships, Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships, NSERC, CIHR, and SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowships, and Mitacs Globalink Research Award

Intakes

We only accept applications for our fellowship program from 1st Feb to 31st Mar every year. Applications are evaluated in Apr and engagements start from 1st May every year.
