3-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition
Graduate students present their research in exactly three minutes, with a single static slide, to a general audience. Presentations are recorded and made publicly available afterward.

Format
Presentations must:
- be delivered in three minutes or less;
- use one static slide only;
- avoid animations, transitions, videos, or additional electronic media;
- explain the research clearly without assuming specialist knowledge; and
- focus on the research problem, approach, significance, and potential impact.
Presentations exceeding the three-minute limit may be stopped.
Attendees in the room will vote anonymously to select the winning presentation. Presentations will be evaluated based on the clarity of the research explanation, audience engagement, and ability to communicate the significance and impact of the research.
The competition winner will receive a $200 CAD prize.
Presentations will be recorded and may be made publicly available after the event.
How to register
Interested graduate students must complete the registration form by October 9, 2026 to request a presentation spot.
Presentation spots are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Students are encouraged to register early.
Selected presenters will be notified by email and asked to confirm their participation. A presentation spot will be considered secured once confirmation is received.
