About the Cyber Science Lab
An academic research lab at the University of Guelph advancing autonomous cybersecurity — from incident response to securing AI systems and critical infrastructure.
The Cyber Science Lab (CSL) was established in August 2018 and operates as an academic research lab within the Canada Cyber Foundry at the University of Guelph’s School of Computer Science, in Ontario, Canada.
Our mission
Our mission centres on advancing autonomous cybersecurity — building systems that can defend themselves with minimal human intervention. Our work spans four areas:
- Autonomous incident detection and response systems
- Safeguarding AI systems autonomously
- Protecting critical infrastructure
- Autonomous offensive security research
Leadership
Professor Ali Dehghantanha founded the laboratory and continues to direct it.
Join the lab
Cyber Science Lab is almost always recruiting new research students. We welcome graduate students, undergraduates, and postdoctoral fellows — see our open positions for current opportunities.
